Rome - Lourdes & Fatima - 17 days

 

Day 1 Depart U.S.A. - Depart from Newark Airport.

Day 2 Rome - Balance of day at leisure to rest, shop or go sightseeing.

Day 3 Rome - Join the group for a sightseeing tour for "Eternal City". The tour will include the Catacombs, the Appaian Way, Capitoline Hill, St. Peter in chains, Colossseum, Arch of Costantine, Circus Maximus, and Palazzo Venezia. Also visit three major basilicas in Rome including St. Mary Major, St. John Lateran, and St. Paul Outside of the Walls.

Day 4 Rome - After breakfast there will be a tour of St. Peter’s Basilica, as well as a visit to the Vatican Museum, including the Sistine Chapel. Balance of afternoon at leisure.

Day 5 Rome/Fatima - Depart for Fatima via air. A tour guide at Lisbon will meet you.

Day 6 Fatima - This morning the group will visit places of interest in the Coda da Ira, including the Basilica, with the tombs of Jacinta and Francisco, Chapel of the Apparitions, and the miraculous fountain. Later the Way of the Cross, built by Hungarians refugees during World War II, will be visited.

Day 7 Fatima - This day will be dedicated to personal devotion in Fatima. An optional side trip will be available to visit the spectacular monasteries of Batalha and Alcobaca.

Day 8 Fatima – Full day leisure in peaceful Fatima. An optional trip to visit the incorrupt body of St. Isabell and the cloister where Lucia lives today.

Day 9 Fatima/Salamanca - Depart Fatima for famous university of the Salamanca.

Day 10 Salamanca/Burgos - Depart for Burgos, after breakfast. In Burgos, enjoy an orientation tour of the city. The highlight will be a visit to Basilica of Burgos, one of the largest and most beautiful in Europe.

Day 11 Burgos/Lourdes - Depart Burgos for Lourdes. Enjoy the scenic ride through the Pyreness Mountains. Arrive in late afternoon, you may wish to take part in the evening Candlelight Procession.

Day 12 Lourdes - Mass at the Grotto of Apparitions_ participate this afternoon and evening in the Blessed Sacrament Procession with the Blessing of the sick. The Way of the Cross over the Hillside may be made and the Baths may be taken in the Waters of Lourdes. There will be a two-hour walking tour of Lourdes visiting the places associated with Bernadette’s life.

Day 13 Lourdes/Zaragoza - Depart Lourdes for Zaragoza. Upon arrival, visit one of the world’s greatest Marian Shrines: Our lady of the Pillar. In a sense, this is the closest feeling one can have in a visit to the Holy Land, because it is a spot visited by Our Lady before Assumption.

Day 14 Zaragoza/Madrid - In Madrid, you will have an orientation tour of the beautiful capital city of Spain.

Day 15 Madrid - Free day in Madrid or take part of an optional tour to Toledo.

Day 16 Madrid - Free day in Madrid, or take part in optional tour to Avila. Visit the ancient walled city, home to St. Teresa. Included in the tour will be visits to the places of importance in the life of St.Teresa, including her convent.

Day 17 Madrid/U.S.A. - Depart Madrid Airport. Arrive home same day.
